It's been a while since I had to think about pregnancy gear, but I do remember this - I LOVED my pregnancy body pillow. I don't think there were any choices then - it was the one babies r us carried...and that was just fine for me. But I NEEDED it. The moment I got pregnant the second time, that was first on my list to get. Much gear I would say is a convenience - this I can absolutely say is a necessity! I think it is great that there are choices out there now, too!
